Who Can Apply
The Josephine-Louise Public Library can issue library cards to residents of the Village of Walden, and to residents of the Town of Montgomery who have Walden mailing addresses. Library users living in other areas must apply for cards in their hometown libraries before borrowing Walden library materials or using Walden library computers.
Children over the age of 5 and under the age of 18 are eligible for cards, but their parents must accompany them to the library at the time of application.
How to Apply
Anyone wishing to receive a library card must register in person at the main circulation desk. Library cards are issued any time during library hours, and the library requires one form of photo identification, and two proofs of a Village of Walden address at the time of application.
(Children's library cards require identification and proof of address from the parent or guardian, not the child.)
Using Your Library Card
To use library services and materials, a library card must be presented. Only the individual whose name appears on the card is entitled to use
that card to access services or materials. Library staff has the right to
deny use of library computers, or checking out of materials if a card is
not presented by its rightful owner. For more information on library card policies, click here and review the library's Policies and Guidelines.
A library card from the Walden library can be used at any of the libraries in the Ramapo-Catskill Library System (RCLS). For a complete listing of RCLS libraries, click here.
Change of Address or Phone Number
Please report any changes in address of telephone number to the library as soon as possible. Changes of address require proof of the new address. Patrons who move out of the Village of Walden should register for a new card in their new hometown.
Lost & Stolen Cards
Please report lost or stolen library cards, as well as damaged cards, to the library as soon as possible. Lost cards can be replaced upon payment of a $5.00 fee.
